However, you're going to be required to pay this money back. The fact is is that a long-term Federal Student Loan Payment plan is typically in most people's future if they consider going to college. Here are a few things that you'll need to keep in mind. While a Federal Student Loan Payment is going to be a part of your life for a great deal of time after college, it will please a great deal of people know that these payments will not come due until you finish college. In addition, if you meet certain income requirements, you can defer your payments or be granted a forbearance of the repayment of your loans until your financial situation improves.
Another alternative that you may have is the ability to pay a lesser amount of money on your loan each month. Again, you do have to meet certain income requirements, but making your Federal Student Loan Payment can be manageable. Since the federal government has taken over the student loan industry, there has been some talk about situations where you will not be required to submit to a long-term Federal Student Loan Payment plan. This is partially true. If you work in a public sector job, you may be eligible for a forgiveness of your student loans. However, you still must make the equivalent of 10 years of on time student loan payments before the remainder of your debt can be forgiven. In essence, the forgiveness of the debt is not forgiveness of the entire debt but the remaining balance of your student loans after 10 years of one-time payments. It's not a forgiveness of your entire student loan balance. The bottom line is if you borrow money via a federal student loan, you're going to have to repay that loan. However, you don't have to be overwhelmed with your Federal Student Loan Payments, there are ways to manage your loan.
